With copyright and fair use, I would say I would uphold the same standards the university does, as a teacher. I think the work a student turns in should be authentic to them. There is a difference between looking at different sources for inspiration and just flat out copying and plagiarism. I am all for looking for inspo and trying out different styles of writing but copying words and phrases and just taking the authenticity out of your work is not usually the point of a writing assignment.
When considering academic dishonesty, I would say a solution could be to make workshops and tutoring more available. Writing can be hard, being original within your work can be hard, and school can just be hard. I think in my future classroom I would want to spend a lot of time helping my students figure out what style works for them or teach for understanding instead of memorization. I think making sure to give personal instruction and feedback can help someone steer away from finding help somewhere else and just cheating.
I think AI does a little bit of both learning and hurting. I think it can help certain students understand information better or give them inspiration and a kind of outline for what they need to go about ideas and assignments. But then I also think we have had too many cases where students will just copy and paste an AI generated answer without reading or understanding, which is not learning at all. I think AI can be useful and offer different perspectives, but I also think there are those who use it as a weapon almost. You can't fly through life and get by using AI all the time.
In high school I took an Early Childhood education class, so I have some experience with creating newsletters. I think I could improve with the designing aspect of a newsletter. I'm not a very creative person and creating a newsletter calls for some artistic ability that I don't have. It was fun to pretend to make one for my class, but it was also hard trying to come up with activities and the layout of it all. I learned how to use certain features of Word like, WordArt and the two-column layout. I think I could use these skills in the future if I am ever working in a classroom or doing any computer work that requires a basic knowledge of Word and other Microsoft apps.
