Blog Journal #4

 I chose grade K-2 and the first standard is communication and collaboration. This standard lists benchmarks for things like identifying different ways of collaboration through digital tools and finding ways of communication through things like email or text messaging. I feel prepared to implement this standard because it seems like it requires a very basic knowledge of computers and technology which I feel like I have. I also can already think of different platforms and digital tools that can be easily understood for this grade level. 


I chose the 9-12 grade English studies subject and the standard I chose is the “Cite evidence to explain and justify reasoning.” After looking at the resources, I think they could be used in my teaching in all kinds of ways. Obviously these lesson plans could be useful whenever I don't have one planned or if there is a certain reading and questions I want my students to complete. This site offers over 900 resources which is amazing and can inspire other lesson plans already created. 


As a teacher it is important to be a proficient internet searcher for research or questions students or parents may have that the teacher does not already have the answer to. As far as internet searching goes I have learned to be very specific in what I am researching. This helps limit the amount of results that pop up. I have also learned to utilize filters and any other way to limit results to find the one I need the quickest. There are many websites I have used for other classes that are specifically for research and specific topics which is nice and very useful in and outside school settings.

    Hi! I really enjoyed your post. I also believe that as a teacher, research should be very important and learning to navigate the web to find correct information is a vital skill.

  I visited Millenia Elementary School’s class pages. They have one for every grade and I chose to look at the first-grade page. This page has the academic expectations of a first grader; what they should know before going into first grade, what they will know at the end of the year, what they will learn in each subject, and how to help the student at home. I think this is useful information for parents to have access to because it can help them prepare their child for the upcoming grade and make sure they are on track. I also really like the last section that highlights the ways parents can help their child at home with reading.   I started using twitter in 2021 and I don't think I actually learned anything from it, I just found it entertaining and funny. I found tweets relatable and a way to people to throw any random thought out there for others to relate to. I started using Instagram when I was in 5th grade (which I probably shouldn't have). Instagram isn't my favorite social media platform just because I find myself comparing my life to others’ and it just creates this false sense of reality. From both platforms I think it is beneficial to be able to connect with all kinds of people from anywhere in the world and it can be an almost intimate way of getting to know someone and their personality type/interests.       I think the digital divide affects students' success in school because some students may have access to certain things on the internet or the internet in general, and then there are those who cannot. Blog Journal #2

     I did not really start using MS Word until college actually. Whenever we started to use word processing software in my K-12 experience, we only ever used to Google Docs just because it was easier to set up with our student emails and it automatically saves your work. I prefer Google Docs just because it is what I'm used to, but I don't mind using MS Word. My laptop already comes with it downloaded and set up for me, and I have it, so it also automatically saves my work, so either software is fine for me.      After looking at the website I was surprised to see how much information and advice it holds for educators, students, and other roles in the education field.
