  In a 12th grade English class, I would use data collection to assess the classrooms and individual needs. I think the nice thing about surveys is that the students can answer on their own without having to share with the class if they don't want to. And I feel like students would be more likely to be honest doing an online survey. I would use surveys to determine which books the class wants to read next, see wherever one is academically, etc… Something I found interesting about reviewing my classmates' blogs is that I found that most of us share the same opinion. It is harder to connect with everyone since this course is online, so reviewing everyone’s blog was refreshing and gave me that human interaction I was lacking from this course. I experienced distance learning during Covid-19. It was my freshman and sophomore year of high school and something I liked about it is that I was able to create my own schedule for the most part. However, something I didn't like about it was the fact that I had to stay home that entire time and have little to no social interaction. Honestly having no social interaction for that long made me a little bit awkward when we were ready to come back to school lol. Something I would do as a teacher for distance learners is have everyone exchange contact info and make a group chat together, and I would also have a designated time in class for everybody to talk about their day or how they are feeling.  From my understanding, an OER is learning resources online that are accessible to anyone. I really enjoyed doing the Web Design assignment. I've never created a website before so it was a first for me and I had a lot of fun doing it. I don't have any artistic abilities but designing this website allowed me to be creative in a different way which was almost cathartic. As for design principles, I utilized the white space and proportion for photos or large pieces of text. I wouldn't say I disliked anything about this assignment, but if I had to pick something then I guess I would say it was very time consuming.   I visited Millenia Elementary School’s class pages. They have one for every grade and I chose to look at the first-grade page. This page has the academic expectations of a first grader; what they should know before going into first grade, what they will know at the end of the year, what they will learn in each subject, and how to help the student at home. I think this is useful information for parents to have access to because it can help them prepare their child for the upcoming grade and make sure they are on track. I also really like the last section that highlights the ways parents can help their child at home with reading. I did not have a great initial experience with Diigo. Signing up was very confusing and the layout of the website was also a challenge. Something I do not like about Diigo is how outdated it kind of looks. The website does not look aesthetically pleasing and there are few tabs to navigate that are a little confusing. Something I like about Diigo is that it is another platform for people to communicate and connect which is always nice.  I have read books about blogging, and I have read other’s blogs, but I never did it myself until this class. I like that it is a way for people to share their ideas and experiences with others. I guess something I don't like about blogging is the fact that it can be so public.   I started using twitter in 2021 and I don't think I actually learned anything from it, I just found it entertaining and funny. I found tweets relatable and a way to people to throw any random thought out there for others to relate to. I started using Instagram when I was in 5th grade (which I probably shouldn't have). Instagram isn't my favorite social media platform just because I find myself comparing my life to others’ and it just creates this false sense of reality. From both platforms I think it is beneficial to be able to connect with all kinds of people from anywhere in the world and it can be an almost intimate way of getting to know someone and their personality type/interests.       I think the digital divide affects students' success in school because some students may have access to certain things on the internet or the internet in general, and then there are those who cannot.   I chose grade K-2 and the first standard is communication and collaboration. This standard lists benchmarks for things like identifying different ways of collaboration through digital tools and finding ways of communication through things like email or text messaging. I feel prepared to implement this standard because it seems like it requires a very basic knowledge of computers and technology which I feel like I have. I also can already think of different platforms and digital tools that can be easily understood for this grade level.  I chose the 9-12 grade English studies subject and the standard I chose is the “Cite evidence to explain and justify reasoning.” After looking at the resources, I think they could be used in my teaching in all kinds of ways. With copyright and fair use, I would say I would uphold the same standards the university does, as a teacher. I think the work a student turns in should be authentic to them. There is a difference between looking at different sources for inspiration and just flat out copying and plagiarism. I am all for looking for inspo and trying out different styles of writing but copying words and phrases and just taking the authenticity out of your work is not usually the point of a writing assignment. When considering academic dishonesty, I would say a solution could be to make workshops and tutoring more available. Writing can be hard, being original within your work can be hard, and school can just be hard. I think in my future classroom I would want to spend a lot of time helping my students figure out what style works for them or teach for understanding instead of memorization.      I did not really start using MS Word until college actually. Whenever we started to use word processing software in my K-12 experience, we only ever used to Google Docs just because it was easier to set up with our student emails and it automatically saves your work. I prefer Google Docs just because it is what I'm used to, but I don't mind using MS Word. My laptop already comes with it downloaded and set up for me, and I have it, so it also automatically saves my work, so either software is fine for me.      After looking at the website I was surprised to see how much information and advice it holds for educators, students, and other roles in the education field. Hi, my name is Kayleen Cepeda, and I am an English major at Florida State University. I grew up in Orlando, Florida with a family of 5 and a shih tzu. Right now, I am studying Editing, Writing, Media, and deciding on a minor. I'm not sure what I want to do with my degree yet but I know I want to move out of Florida one day.  I have only had two experiences with technology in an educational setting that I can recall. The first was in middle school when the district finally put the rumors to rest and gave us all individual laptops. It wasn't hard to navigate since I was growing up with the emergence of technology anyway. But I remember the excitement that came with owning a laptop and learning to navigate the different ways we would be using them in and out of school.
